January 2025 | A New Year, A New Leaf
Welcome to the first Community Wellness Newsletter from New Leaf Family Services &
Wellness Center. As we begin 2025, we are excited to introduce a monthly newsletter dedicated
to sharing mental health resources, wellness education, and updates on the work we are doing to
support individuals and families throughout our community.
Founded by Michane Staples, New Leaf Family Services & Wellness Center was created with a
mission to provide compassionate behavioral health services and practical support for individuals
working toward stability, healing, and personal growth. Each month, this newsletter will
highlight community impact, client success stories, wellness tips, and available support
resources.
Community Impact Snapshot – January 2025
At New Leaf, our work focuses on helping individuals build life skills, emotional resilience, and
confidence. In addition to therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation services, we provide
community support that helps remove barriers many individuals face.
Community Support Services Provided
Transportation assistance through bus passes to help clients attend appointments and
essential commitments
Referrals for transitional housing programs for individuals experiencing housing
instability
Food and clothing pantry support for individuals and families in need (based on
availability)
Nevada ID and Social Security application assistance to help clients obtain necessary
identification documents
Community referrals connecting families and individuals with additional support
resources
These services help ensure that individuals receiving behavioral health support can also access
the tools and resources needed to build stability in their daily lives.
Client Success Story
Many individuals come to New Leaf during difficult moments in their lives. Our goal is to
provide support without judgment while helping clients develop the skills and confidence needed
to move forward.
“When I first started services, I felt overwhelmed and unsure how to manage everything in my
life. The support and guidance I received helped me build better routines and stay focused on my
goals. I’ve learned that setbacks don’t mean failure — they are just part of the journey.”
— New Leaf Client
Stories like these remind us that growth often begins with small steps and encouragement.
Wellness Tip of the Month
Start the Year with Mindful Breathing
The beginning of a new year can bring both excitement and stress. One simple technique to
support emotional balance is mindful breathing.
Try this simple exercise:
1. Inhale slowly through your nose for four seconds
2. Hold your breath for four seconds
3. Exhale slowly through your mouth for four seconds
Repeating this cycle several times can help calm the nervous system and improve focus.
Message from Our Founder
As we begin this new year, I want to thank our clients, partners, and community members who
trust New Leaf to be part of their journey. Mental wellness is a process that requires patience,
compassion, and support. Every day we see individuals taking meaningful steps toward growth,
healing, and stability, and that progress is something we celebrate.
Our goal is to continue building a supportive environment where individuals feel safe to learn,
grow, and turn over a new leaf in their lives.

wellness resources, and the impact of the work being done at New Leaf. Each month we will
share new information to help individuals and families better understand mental health, wellness
practices, and available community support.
We invite you to follow along and share these updates with others who may benefit from the
resources and services available in our community.
Together, we can continue supporting healthier lives and stronger communities.
